A big encouragement.

How unworthy i am, all the evil things i commit before you...

Yet you still answer my prayers faithfully.
Yet you still give me a chance to help a brother grow in you.
Yet you continue to shower me with encouragement from him.

From the beginning, how you bring him to your side, how you work in his life and help him grow in his salvation.

I learnt from brother See Guan when he was doing LOA with us, that we should not pray for peanuts. So this time, i will pray for something big.

Growth

I really thank God how he is working in the heart of one brother in Christ. How he desires to reach out to those around him by opening up his house and also sharing the love of God to others.

Romans 8:28
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

A thanksgiving from my heart.

Today is the first time i scored a goal in Sat soccer fellowship since 8months ago. However giving thanks was at the back of my head because there is one other item which i always give thanks to for this past 1 month and even to now. I see the glory of God, his faithfulness despite my shortcomings and sinfulness. I never fail to praise him for how great he has been in my life.

Who am i? I am nothing but just a mere man, unworthy of his grace. Yet he allows me to meet Julian. I really thank God for this privilege to share Christ with him, which has been the greatest joy of mine.

I am really encouraged to see that he is making a special effort to step out of his comfort zone to join fellowship. It isn't about the strength of a person, whether he is extrovert or smart that God delights in. God delights in a teachable heart, which i see in Julian. Through this 1.5 months, i witness how God draws him to his side and slowly by slowly, revealing himself to Julian.

I just want to say that God is very real, and he is very good to me. Hopefully everyone around me will experience that as well. Amen.

I can testify that.

Indeed Matthew 10:7 -- "The Kingdom of heaven is near". It isnt far away, it is just infront. That bridge is a gift from God. There is nothing we can do to build that bridge, but it has already been build through the blood of Jesus Christ. All we have to do is just accept his gift and walk across it.

Let my life glory God

I want to glorify God in my daily life, not just in "spiritual life" for there is no such a thing as "spiritual & unspiritual".

Allow me to glorify God when i travel to school, with my friends, being alone and while exercising.

2 Corinthians 5:9
"So whether we are at home or away from home, our goal is to be pleasing to him."

Testimony Sharing 1

Thanksgiving Items 2008

I am Daniel, a ngee ann poly, 2nd year business student. I thank God that I can share my thanksgiving items. God found me by leading 2 brothers to witness to me. At that time, I was already a 2 year old Christian. As they checked my assurance of salvation, I actually challenged them that I will not go heaven due to my misinterpretation of God's word as I barely read it. They shared with me “bridge to life” which I felt was an insult as I thought I knew everything. We exchanged numbers and they left. They told me to join them for quiet time which is a thing I am familiar with yet I never do it before. To my surprise, since that day on, God gives me the desire and heart to join them everyday.

The first few weeks seem like a duty but soon, as I started to taste of this delicious spiritual milk from God, how he speaks to me about my daily life. I enjoy quiet time and wait in anticipation for what God will reveal to me each day. Through the bible study on the book “lessons on assurance”, I grasped the 5 assurances which God had promised me and I set my hope on him who is eternal. I thank God for giving me this privilege to have a personal relationship with him.

I thank God that he had placed brothers and sisters in my life, especially my leader and brother See Guan. Both of them have been a living example for me in actions and in speech. One example would be how my leader seeks God first by joining for bible study during one Sunday despite having a flight early that morning for business trip. This resulted in him having insufficient time to rest and adapt to the environment due to jet lag as the meeting is in an hour’s time. God honours him as he was the only one who was provided a King-size bedroom all for himself. This strongly encourages me about how God cares for me as well. I also thank God for using brother See Guan to teach me valuable lessons. When I start to read the bible, I only learn lessons from God through reading. It was through the constant sharing of See Guan’s lessons learnt during his basketball games, that I learn how to glorify God in my daily life. His humble and teachable attitude is what I have been always striving towards. I too thank God that I am never alone in the clubhouse as brother Rainer and See Guan are always there, never stopping to serve me.

Another thanksgiving item is how God allows me to join quiet time sharing during attachment. I started work at 9am and before I ask my supervisor to let me start work at 9.30am, somehow God brought up 1 John 5:14-15 – “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” This verse greatly convicts me that God will answer my prayer, and indeed He did. I am challenged and encouraged by so many brothers and sisters who seek God first. How they take up half-time jobs, delay their working time to join quiet time sharing, taking half-day off to serve the ministry and coming for fellowship despite strong persecutions at home.

Another thanksgiving item is how God answered my prayer regarding bringing 1 person who was also the first I ever brought to Christ in my life last year. I really enjoyed the process of trusting in God and experiencing eternal life. I thank God that I have a better understanding of how he felt when I am still in the lost, his anxiety yet filled with love at the same time. I also thank God for the chance to have follow-up. Through helping him, God revealed to me how impatient I am. I too have a better understanding of how my leader felt when he asks me to do things and I did not give my best at it, my cold attitude towards him at times.

I also praise the Lord for drawing my entire family to Christmas Eve Celebration. Initially, I had many doubts as my brother wasn’t keen on going and my dad said he may have plans that night, furthermore, he works until 6pm and have to leave work early. I know if one of them says they do not want to go, all will not go eventually. Thus, I really thank God for their appearance so that I can share the blessings of Christmas with them.

I also thank God how he hears me and uses people to speak to me. I remember clearly after common test, I ended back at the clubhouse doing my basics. In the past, after exam, I will definitely go out and celebrate with my friends. I do not desire those activities anymore but I just feel like travelling around, relaxing and clearing my head. Anyway, I am sitting at the clubhouse asking myself a silly question, “what am I doing?” Just nice my leader came in and said his mobile phone is spoiled and wanted to send it to repair at Orchard Road and he asked me to go along together with him. On the way, I shared with him my thoughts and he mentioned that God prompted him to bring me along for personal time. These things seem very small, yet it really touches my heart knowing how God knows my every thought. Psalm 139:1-4 says,
“O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD.”

One last thing I want to give thanks is how God brought Philippians 3:7-8 –
“But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ”.
In the past, before I met The Navigators, I was burdened by many things which hold me back from God. On the surface, I seem to enjoy those things I do, but deep in my heart, that emptiness always surface. Ever since I have this relationship with Jesus, I joyfully surrender them to God. Letting them go is easy as God gave me that strong conviction. I felt free as if my burdens were carried away. It was the part when I reminisced those days which troubled me. I start to wonder if all these are worth it. I really thank God how he placed my leader at my side. Knowing that he had been through what I experienced, I praised God for my leader's presence. Now I know that I am in the hands of a loving God who never leaves anything to chance, even his path for me to be in ngee ann and every step I take, the timing to meet the 2 brothers is perfect. His plan for me has been crafted out since the beginning. Just like what Romans 8:28 says.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

Please pray for me that I will count my blessings for this year and also to be faithful always. Thank You.

Learn to enjoy God's presence

I learnt from brother Jae Kwan that for us students, these 2 years or so is very important. I should not learn how to "do quiet time", "do bible study" or so (Fill up the blanks or meeting my target).. but should in the process learn to love God and enjoy his presence during all these fellowship with him.

I do not want to be those who after graduation, fall away.

Holy Spirit Empowerment

I really thank God that he gave me the chance over msn(4hours or so) to share the love of Christ with C, and clearing her doubts (If i did). For all the credit really goes to God for i speak of things without much thoughts which never occur to me before. It is really like the words are at my mouth even before my head starts to process. I can proudly testify that God is very real and very good to me as he guided me. I really felt the Holy Spirit empowerment.

1 thessalonians 1:5
"because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction..."

I really thank God that he is willing to use me as a messager and how he send off his spirit before me even before i speak. But most importantly, how i learn the love of God even more as i sort out my thoughts and answer my questions which i used to have about.

Thank You.
